Thursday Feb. 2 or Friday, Feb. 3- Captain’s drop by and pick up info, rules; catch sheets, and sign out their teams from Grand Slam Riviera between

 

(Thurs: 5-7pm or Fri: 4-6pm)

Saturday, Feb.4-

  • (No check –out) Fishing, Lines in 8am- out 4pm
  • Check-in: Sailfish Marina, Square Grouper by 5pm
  • Weigh station (Sailfish marina only) 3-5pm.
  • Awards Party (Buccaneer) 6-until. (Dinner, open bar)

The Grand Slam Billfish Brawl is a “Jungle Rules” sailfish release tournament. No points apply regardless of bait type. Winners will be determined by most total releases for the day. Fish will be verified by video validation and must be called into the radio immediately after angler releases the fish. Few stipulations apply, listed below. Each boat is allowed to fish as many lines as they wish, chum, utilize live or dead bait, leave and enter any inlet as long as official materials are turned in to the specified locations by the official tournament end time.  

Basically- who can catch the most fish? We don’t care how you do it!

Jungle Rules:

There will be NO morning check out, you may enter or leave any inlet as long as materials are returned to the Buccaneer or Castaways Marinas by 5pm. Lines are not allowed in the water until 8:30am, Lines out 4pm.

1. Boundaries: 20 Nautical miles from The Buccaneer Marina (Palm Beach Inlet)

2. 15′ Leaders- A billfish shall be considered a “release” only when- a). The mate or other angler touches the “leader” b). When the knot connecting the main line to the leader touches the tip c). When the swivel or snap swivel attaching the main line to the leader touches the tip.  A recognizable video image MUST be taken for a qualified release.

3. Verification Video & Polygraph (if necessary)- Each team may use any SD card they wish; however, the footage is ONLY allowed of fishing during the 2012 Brawl.

4. Radio committee must be notified on the radio or cell immediately after a registered angler releases a billfish except during the last 15 minutes of the day, during which time all fish must be reported upon being hooked.  All reports must include the assigned boat number, live or dead bait catch, and angler name.  No billfish shall be eligible unless the radio committee has acknowledged the information provided over the radio and given a conformation number to the angler.  Boats which cannot make radio contact with the radio committee for any reason should contact another boat for a relay or committee cell phone which will be provided on the catch sheet.

5. Applicable laws apply regarding licenses, size limits, speed limits, etc…Any infraction will result in disqualification without refund. “Tournament legal” Circle hooks must be used for Sailfish.

6. Hold Harmless: All anglers and occupants of the entered boat participate voluntarily at their own risk.

7. Protests: Boats/ Anglers may protest any fish entered in the tournament. All protests must be delivered in writing to the rules committee on the day of the Tournament before the close of the check-in time 5pm with a $500 check that is refundable if the protest is upheld. The committee whose decision will be final will review and consider all protests.

8. Payouts: Billfish Brawl committee reserves the right to modify and/or change monetary disbursements based on the number of participants. Grand prize money will be disbursed as 50/30/20 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Entry Fee: $1,250.00/ $1,000.00 JBT Participants only (Includes Capt & four anglers)

Additional anglers: $150.00 per (unlimited additional anglers allowed)

Guest awards passes: $25 per person

Calcutta: Winner Take All- $1,000.00 –  50/30/20- $1,500.00 –  Fun Fish (KDW)- $500

Payout (based on 20 boats entered across the board): $55,000.00
